After claiming the FIP Gold title in Ponta Delgada, Portugal, at the beginning of March alongside Alex Ruiz, FIP No. 25 Juanlu Esbri will look to use the FIP Silver Koksijde in Belgium as an opportunity to return to winning ways on the CUPRA FIP Tour. The Spaniard will compete alongside Pablo Garcia. Their main challengers for the title are Curro Cabeza and Mariano Gonzalez. The pair have already shown they can win together, having claimed the FIP Bronze Marrakech title in April. Also among the leading contenders in Belgium are Agustin Reca and Victor Tur Checa, who this year finished as runners-up at the FIP Bronze events in Nairobi, Kenya, and Singapore. Johan Bergeron and Julien Seurin are also among the entrants. The tournament wild cards are Joris De Weerdt and Bram Coene, and Tibo De Vylder and Maxime De Roose.
In the women’s draw, the title race will feature Leti Manquillo and Maria Teresa Moriñigo against Patri Araus and Bo Luttikhuis. Manquillo has won four CUPRA FIP Tour titles this year, including the recent FIP Silver Belfast, while Moriñigo is chasing her first title of the season. Araus and Luttikhuis have also celebrated titles this year, with Araus winning the FIP Bronze Hong Kong I and II events and Luttikhuis claiming the FIP Bronze Kuala Lumpur title. Also in the spotlight are the Italian pair Giulia Sussarello and Emily Stellato, as well as the duo of Lucia Perez and Jimena Diaz. The main draw of the tournament begins tomorrow and concludes on Sunday 12 July.
